Digital Phone Recorder Better Than Cassette?

Friday, September 26th, 2008

If you’re trying to choose between a digital phone recorder and an analog, or cassette model, you may wonder what makes the digital device so much better.

First, while cassettes are still in use, and may continue in business use for a while, they are not as popular as they used to be, and finding cassettes is not as easy as it once was. If you plan to keep this device for ten years, you probably want to consider whether it will still be usable, and whether cassettes will be affordable and easy to find, ten years from now.

Second, if you archive your conversations, storing them on cassette takes a lot of room and some creativity in organizing. Digital recorders store conversations on memory cards. You can easily upload conversations to your computer, archive and organize them, and even burn them on CDs or DVDs for long-term storage.

Third, cassettes can store no more than two hours of phone conversation (one hour per side), but most digital recorders can store dozens, even hundreds of hours of conversations.

Fourth, most digital recording devices have higher sound quality than cassette. Even the best cassette recorder will have a slight hiss from the turning of the cassettes. When you record with a digital phone device, you’ll get much cleaner, crisper sound.

Fifth, cassettes don’t duplicate well, and digital files can be copied endlessly with no loss of quality. This may not be important to you, but if you ever need to copy your conversations, the digital quality is much higher.

Sixth, and most importantly a digital phone recorder is much cooler and more fun to use. It’s smaller, lighter, and more easily carried around, and, it’s really cool. While that may not be the most important factor for everyone, tech-savvy users will want the best device, and in terms of coolness, that’s definitely the digital one.

Buying A Refurbished Used Blackberry Cell Phone

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

A refurbished used blackberry is one that has been either returned to your mobile carrier because the original purchaser changed their mind on the product within the often offered “buyers remorse” period offered by most carriers, or it has been turned in for recycling when it’s original owner has upgraded to a newer model.

Any used blackberry cell phone that has been out in the field with a customer and then returned can no longer be sold as “new,” no matter what the circumstances for return; the mobile carriers send these Blackberrys out to be refurbished to original manufacturer settings.

Cleaned, updated with the latest software available and then fully tested for usability, the refurbished Blackberry’s are then sold back to consumers in the market for much cheaper.

Numerous third party companies are also in the business of reselling the Blackberry. It wouldn’t hurt to do a bit of comparison shopping to see what is available via other retailers. You might be able to find a refurbished blackberry with all of the features you’re looking for, for a lot less than what is being offered by your mobile carrier. Additionally, a refurbished Blackberry purchased from a vendor who specializes in selling refurbished products is likely to be an unlocked model. An unlocked model will keep you from needing to commit to signing a lengthy, often unbreakable, contract with your mobile carrier.

Be an informed and aware consumer before purchasing your used phone. Ask for a history on the particular unit you’re considering buying; if the vendor has immaculate records, you might be able to get an ownership history. Find out if there is a warranty on the refurbished Blackberry you are considering, oftentimes when a Blackberry is refurbished a 90-day warranty will be given on the item.

Discount Cell Phones

One of the most popular cell phones today is the iphone. My husband had to work very hard to get his. He ordered 3 online, only to be told at different times that ‘they were out of stock’ even though a couple of the managers had told him, they were sending them to him that day! Frustration set in.

He went to a couple of the big stores, where he was sure they were in stock, only to be told they had run out.

He was getting angry. However, his determination was strong. Once he was told they would definitely be in stock, he went to a store in the next town where he’queued up'(for over an hour).

Once in his hand, was it worth it! He was the kid with the new toy. He played with that phone for about 2 months straight(in fact, it’s still going on because it has games on that he really enjoys)!

The iphone looks slick. It is so easy to use; I must admit I now have a hankering for one myself. Some of the key features of the iphone are:

1. An internet communications device with email, web browsing, search and maps.

2. Not just a mobile phone – it’s also an iPod. So you can play music as well as video.

3. Users can make calls by simply pointing at a name or number.

4. Iphone syncs all contacts from your PC, Mac or Internet service so you always have a full list of contacts with you.

5. Ability to easily construct a favorites list for your frequent calls.

6. Voice-mail key feature – visual voicemail so you can go directly to any message.

7. SMS key features which includes a full qwerty soft keyboard to send and receive SMS message in multiple sessions.

Now they are much easier to acquire and they are certainly worth the price.
